On 21 June, we made an inventory in the district with enthusiastic local residents about the greenery and other life in our district under the heading \"How rich is our district?\" We want to do this every autumn and spring so that we get a historical overview of life in the district. On this page you can read what we have all found.\r\n\r\n\r\nSeveral rare plant species are found in the public green areas of Nieuw Kortenoord. The group of approximately 30 residents who made a joint inventory round at the end of June discovered this. They counted 100 types of herbs alone, in addition to all grasses, shrubs and trees. The inventory was an initiative from Groen Kortenoord under the motto \"How rich is the neighborhood\".\r\n\r\nOn a warm Sunday morning, about 30 residents - young and old - moved in groups along the green strips in the district. They were equipped with pen and paper, flora booklets and the PlantNet app to quickly identify species. In this way they mapped the green areas along the Nijlantsingel and the Kortenoord Allee, the park at the Marijkeweg and the playground strip. Local residents previously sowed some pieces with bee and butterfly flowers in this playground strip.\r\n\r\nPurple morning star\r\nEspecially in the green strips that the municipality mows only once or twice a year, a large variety of plants appeared. In total, more than 100 species were counted, including some rare species, such as the purple morning star, stable candle and elongated thistle. The plants were also well found by bees, bumblebees, butterflies and some dragonflies.\r\n\r\nMuch variation\r\nThe park scored highest. Not surprising, because the park is the most varied, with grassland, shady areas, wet parts and parts that are disturbed. Every place has its own species. For example, pioneer varieties such as poppy and yellow flowering ragwort do well on disturbed soil.\r\n\r\nAgain next year\r\nIt is expected that many more species will occur in our neighborhood. The idea is to resume the inventory work in late summer, because then other varieties are in bloom. We also want to set off again next year. This gives us a good idea of \u200b\u200bhow nature develops in the first two parts of Kortenoord.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nOn this list you will find an overview of all species that have been found.
